Firefighters’ Day

This week we celebrated International Firefighters‘ Day. It is as fun as it sounds. 🙂

Teach your kids fire safety basics in a fun way that they’ll remember it.

Here are some ideas of what you can do with them to educate, play and to prevent tragedies and stay safe.

  • Read Books on Firefighters and Fire Safety
  • Try to bring your kids where they can meet firefighters
  • Talk to them about the gears that firefighters wear (we even tried some on this time. It was a huge success as you can see in the photos) and the tools that they use.
  • Set up some fun imaginative play, like saving a cat from the top of the tree or playing with firetrucks, or if the weather is warm you can organise some water play in the garden too.
  • Educate them about fire safety at home
  • Have some arts&craft activity or flashcards with the new words on it
  • You also can download many preschool activity sheets from the internet
  • Show them a smoke-detector, listen to the alarm so they know the sound and practice the fire-escape plan together
  • Make sure that your kids learn how to call firefighters in case of emergency

Your kids must understand that fire is dangerous.

Have a couple of hours of fun with them to prevent a fire in your home. Please tell us other engaging activities too in the comments.
